There is no participation fee. JICAF operates on a revenue-sharing model, meaning a portion of sales goes to JICAF. The revenue-share percentage and other participation terms will be shared with shortlisted artists before they confirm their intention to participate.
Yes. Artists working in any medium are welcome to apply, as long as they can present their work as artworks or products that can be exhibited and sold at JICAF.
For example, a tattoo artist could translate their designs into art prints. Your original medium does not determine your eligibility. Show your artistic practice and explain what form your work would take at JICAF. All applications go through the curatorial selection process.
Yes. Brands and studios are welcome to apply. JICAF prioritises individual artistic expression, so the work you submit should feel like one coherent body of work with a distinct, recognisable artistic identity.
Multiple artists may contribute, provided their work follows a shared artistic direction. Simply grouping separate artists with different styles under one brand or studio name would not meet this expectation.
Please identify the artist or artists behind the work and explain what connects the pieces you are proposing.
Being shortlisted means you move to the next stage. You will receive the commercial terms and artist obligations, then confirm your intention to participate if you wish to proceed.
Confirmed shortlisted applicants enter final curation by the invited Board of Curators. Selection is confirmed through the Official Artist Announcement.
Yes. Applications are welcome from artists based outside Jakarta and outside Indonesia.
You do not need to attend all 16 days of the exhibition. However, we prioritise artists who can be present in Jakarta during the exhibition period.
Yes. You are welcome to apply again, whether you were previously selected or not. Artists who have participated in past editions are also welcome to reapply.
No. We do not assess your application based on your social media following. Including a social media link in your proposal is optional.
Count from your first paid client project or your first employment as an illustrator or visual artist, whichever came first. This includes paid freelance work.
Final curation will be conducted by an invited Board of Curators made up of external members who are not part of the JICAF team.
Each category will have five curators. Special categories, such as toys, may have a smaller panel. The curators will be announced closer to the final curation stage.
We always look for ways to present audiovisual work by participating artists. However, playback facilities depend on the venue and cannot be guaranteed.
Please make sure all the work you propose can also be presented as still images. Choose frames or sequences that communicate the work clearly on their own. You may include viewing links in your proposal so the curators can experience the animation in its original form.
Yes. JICAF supports freedom of artistic expression, including work that explores sensitive subjects, questions beliefs, or offers social and political criticism.
Please consider how your work will be encountered in a public setting. JICAF may take place in venues such as shopping malls, where the exhibition remains part of a shared public environment even when admission is ticketed. Present sensitive themes thoughtfully, without sexually explicit imagery or graphic depictions of violence.
The curatorial review will consider both the work’s artistic intent and its suitability for public display.
We do not accept hate speech, targeted threats or harassment, or work that promotes discrimination, dehumanisation, or violence against individuals or communities.
Criticism of ideas, institutions, or systems is welcome within these boundaries.
As a general rule, fan art is not accepted. JICAF prioritises original work and individual artistic expression.
A small amount of work featuring existing third-party characters or intellectual property may be considered within a broader Body of Work, subject to curatorial review. If your Body of Work consists entirely of fan art, it would not be suitable for JICAF.
No. Work created wholly or partly using generative AI is not accepted.
You do not need to be at the venue every day. JICAF handles all sales during the exhibition.
Artists are responsible for all production costs, shipping to JICAF, and return shipping for unsold work.
All work exhibited at JICAF must be available for sale. Please take this into account when selecting the work you propose.
Yes. You may include existing work, including work that has previously been exhibited or offered for sale elsewhere.
JICAF will also have a requirement for new work. Details will be shared with shortlisted artists.
JICAF’s revenue share is based on your actual sales during the exhibition. The percentage and full commercial terms will be shared with shortlisted artists before they confirm their intention to participate.
You set your own selling prices. JICAF will provide pricing guidance based on historical sales data from previous editions to help you make informed decisions.
Payment is generally made within 30 days after the exhibition ends. The timing depends on how promptly your remaining items are collected and whether there are any outstanding disputes to resolve.
Unsold work will be returned to you after the exhibition. Return shipping costs are the artist’s responsibility.
