The Modern Vanitas is a limited-edition diptych created for JICAF 2026, reinterpreting the classical 17th-century vanitas tradition through a contemporary domestic lens. Presented across two contrasting panels, the artwork explores the subtle shift of time and atmospheric presence. The left scene captures a moment of quiet abundance—a freshly set table bathed in warm, expectant energy. The right scene transitions into late-night tranquility, where extinguished candle smoke and cool moonlight linger over the stillness of the space. Rendered in Atelier Jam’s signature palette of cobalt blue and deep burgundy, the piece utilizes fine stippling and graphic linework to balance stillness with movement, framing the passage of time as an unbroken, poetic continuum.
