Grimmy Granny is a multidisciplinary artist duo from Kuala Lumpur, formed by two sisters with backgrounds in graphic design. Although formally trained in design, both developed a passion for drawing and became self-taught digital illustrators. By day, they work in the corporate world; by night, Grimmy Granny becomes their alter ego and creative outlet. Through their artistic practice, they explore the paradox between the limitations of everyday life and the boundless possibilities of art. Inspired by noise, memory, and childhood, their works are often abstract and maximalist, layered with overlapping patterns, dense textures, and vibrant visual chaos. Their pieces reflect both personal experiences and emotional complexity, transforming disorder into immersive visual narratives.

Even if you aren’t personally slaughtering a pig, by eating it, you become part of the chain. This artwork challenges that involvement by presenting a paper target with a pig at its center. I want this piece to invite reflection on our role in the broader narrative of consumption, questioning the ethics of enjoying the final product while ignoring its origins.

Every time I visit a theme park, my imagination runs wild. I envision the existing rides and attractions taken to new extremes, pushing the boundaries of fear and exhilaration. Wild, over-the-top theme park where every ride is a daring challenge, designed to confront our deepest fears and send our adrenaline into overdrive.

The imagery blends innocence with metamorphosis, a dance between pain and renewal. The piece evokes emotional rebirth, as if the figures are rising from chaos toward light. It speaks to healing as both a wild and tender transformation, where wounds grow wings, and fragility becomes strength. Amid the surreal landscape, every mark, bloom, and wingbeat reflects the beauty of becoming whole again.

A man with a long beard and curly hair and a thin body, pressed a button on a box attached to a light pole out of curiosity. He was lifted up and stuck to the pole, unable to be brought down. Over time, he became a fixture on the street, a symbol of the dangers of curiosity and the fleeting nature of life. The city changed around him, but Jesus remained suspended in time. Eventually, Jesus,s story was forgotten, and he became a distant memory, a name on an old news article. And still, he remained, stuck to the light pole, watching the world go by below. Pigs are often seen as slow and lazy animals, but I’ve always found them fascinating. In a world where every animal seems locked in a relentless struggle for dominance, the pig simply exists, content and unbothered. It reminds me of our own world, where people are constantly chasing after something, always in pursuit. I find that amusing. Personally, I don’t care for the chase. I want to embrace the slowness. I want to be as unhurried as me riding a pig.

A rabbit is often seen as weak and mellow, while a tiger is admired for its unimaginable strength. However, in the wild, rabbits are incredibly adaptable, thriving in various environments, which contrasts with the tiger's aggressive and territorial nature.

A drawing that carries more weight than it seems. Born into a butcher family, the fate of pork never left us, it simply transformed. What was once sold as meat is now expressed through art. The fall is not a stumble. It is a continuation, an inheritance, an endless cycle of the same faith passing from one generation to the next.

Toxic lovers often find a way to sustain their relationship by feeding off each other, slowly and gently consuming the very individualism that once made them unique. This is a haunting portrayal of love turned parasitic, where the bond that holds them together is also what gradually devours them.

Desperate to feel whole, a demon takes advice too literally, reshaping himself in a bizarre attempt at confidence. By swapping what defines pride and what defines identity, he becomes a walking contradiction. The result is both absurd and unsettling, reflecting a world where self-image is negotiable, yet never fully resolved. In trying to fix himself, he only becomes more displaced.

The intestine coils endlessly, without a clear beginning or end. It restricts movement, interrupts breath, and occupies space aggressively. It reflects my life in the city, crowded, relentless, constantly pulling me forward. It also reflects my family, whose lives are shaped by this very material through their work as butchers. This work sits between two realities, questioning whether the weight I carry is mine alone, or something quietly shared across generations.

Ideas, opinions and food, they come at us non-stop. But, we always have a choice. Consume it, spit it out, or ignore it. So, don’t just swallow everything without thinking. Because once it’s in, it sticks forever.

We frequently ponder our next course of action and which path to pursue, but the truth is that none of us really knows. In this drawing, we can observe that the characters are following a mysterious leader in a direction they are curious to go even if they have no idea where he is leading them. Perhaps we should just go with the flow and venture into the unknown without giving it much thought; perhaps that way, we'll discover our true destination. Eventually, who knows if they're going in the "right" direction?

This monochromatic artwork brings that whimsical thought to life, portraying a bird, dog, cat and rabbit gathered around a pot of stew, cooking together in secret, turning domestic life on its head. I wanted to show the inner lives of our pets, sparking curiosity and imagination about the hidden adventures that might unfold in their lives in our absence.

This piece explores the quiet disconnect in modern spirituality, people who pray without grasping the meaning, going through motions with hearts elsewhere. Though they may be lost, they find peace in their own way. Perhaps that's enough.
