Gutsy Prune is the pseudonym of Natalie, a Bandung-based illustrator whose work draws deeply from her experiences as a woman. Blending mythological motifs with surreal imagery, she creates mythopoeic visual narratives that juxtapose beauty and the grotesque. Through dreamlike and mythical realms, her illustrations inhabit the liminal space between what was, what is, and what could be. These imagined fantasy worlds become a means of reflecting on alternative ways of being within our ever-evolving world. Influenced by surrealism, esoterica, and mythological symbolism, her work explores themes of belonging, identity, and transformation. Through her illustrations, she meditates on the unseen psychological and spiritual forces that shape human experience.
