Daud Nugraha is an Indonesian director, creator, and founder of Aniwayang Studio, known for pioneering a unique approach that blends traditional shadow puppetry with modern animation. With a background as a storyboard artist working on international productions in Malaysia and China, he brings strong visual storytelling and narrative structure into his work. He is the creator of Desa Timun (The Cucumber Village), a children’s animation that reimagines Indonesian cultural heritage in a playful and accessible way for young audiences. His work has been recognized in various international film festivals, including nominations at the Indonesian Film Festival, and has been showcased globally, such as at Osaka World Expo 2025. Driven by a vision to reconnect younger generations with cultural roots, Daud continues to develop creative formats that bridge tradition and modern storytelling, making Indonesian culture engaging, relevant, and globally appealing.
