Childhood is often more than just a phase; it can become a springboard for lifelong creativity. The vibrant worlds of 1980s and 1990s comics, Dungeons & Dragons, Saturday morning cartoons, and classic arcade games continue to shape my work as an illustrator and designer.
These early influences became the building blocks of my visual language.
This body of work seeks to capture the joyful energy of early inspirations, often blending robots and superheroes with traditional elements of Indonesian culture.
Recently, I have embraced a nostalgic, highly detailed "chibi" style, which is a direct homage to collectible Lotte candy stickers. These imported treats were once especially popular and could often be found in large supermarkets such as HERO.
A major milestone was reached in 2024 with the debut of the original IP, "Galactic Bedtime Story," at JICAF (Jakarta Illustration and Creative Arts Fair). In my view, this universe is characterized by a whimsical fusion of fairy-tale wonder and space adventure; a dreamy, retro sci-fi reimagining of beloved childhood stories.
Building on that momentum, efforts are underway to secure a place in the official JICAF lineup once again this year. The aim is to return to this remarkable stage and present a new chapter: "SUPER RABIT WAR : Tales of Neos-1 Terra," a new series that follows characters on a journey to a distant star system inspired by the diverse cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago, to merge futuristic exploration with the enduring spirit of Nusantara.
In essence, this art is not just about drawings, but also about remembering, dreaming, and sharing stories that inspire others to feel like kids again.
